Winter Golf Tips
Golf isn’t just for the summer, and whilst it may be more of a challenge in cold, wet and windy conditions, it’s great to get out and play whatever the weather, so our here are our top tips for enjoying your winter golf:
Check the forecast. Be prepared, dress for the conditions and make sure you have an umbrella with you.
Check the course. Winter weather may mean there are temporary course restrictions or changes, so check before you play.
Layer your clothing. It’s much better to take layers off than wish you had put more on!
Use a handwarmer. Even with gloves on your hands can get cold so use a small heated handwarmer to make sure you keep your grip.
Empty your bag. Carry fewer clubs and take out anything you don’t need to make your bag as light as you can.
Carry if you can. You take less steps, it protects the course, and it’s good for your bone density!
Use a coloured ball. It’s much easier to see it on the ground.
Clean the ball as regularly as possible. Mud and water will affect ball flight.
Hit less shots. Invest in some lessons to improve your game.
Protect your course. Winter play can play havoc with ground conditions so it’s really important to repair any damage, replace divots and adhere to any temporary restrictions to make sure your course will be in great shape for your summer golf.
Clean your equipment after use. Don’t put your gear away wet and muddy, you don’t want to find you have filthy mouldy kit next time you are ready to play.
Enjoy the 19th! Treat yourself to a well deserved warm drink in the Clubhouse after your round.
And if all else fails…..book a golfing holiday somewhere warm!!
