Opened in August 1994, this par 72, S.S.S 71, 6459 yards course belies its age. Making good use of the existing trees, enhanced by landscaping and many man made water features, the course presents a fair challenge to all levels of golfer.

The brainchild of John Wiles and son Robert, this family run club has quickly established itself in the local golfing community, playing host to Union matches and Yorkshire Scratch League events.

The signature hole, the 12th, is not the longest hole on the course, measuring a mere 346 yards, but it has seen the end of many promising medal cards. Water on the right hand side of the fairway demands an accurate tee shot, leaving an equally demanding approach shot over bunkers with more water to the right of the green, while out of bounds to the left catches anyone trying to play "safe".

We have constructed a 'Virtual Round' experience for you to enjoy on the web. Feel free to visit our entire course right now - by using the interactive walkthrough below.

Here you can see what lies ahead of your round before you play. From Hole 1 through to 18 you will find photographs of Tee Shots, Fairway Views and approaches to the Greens.

Yardage information and course layouts are complimented by tips from our resident PGA professional that will give you the complete Virtual Round Experience.

HOLE 1 - 508 - SI: 9 - 501 - SI: 9 - 431 - SI: 9 - PAR: 5/5/5
THE FIRST TEE - A basket of balls on the driving range to warm up is advisable here as all eyes are on you from the clubhouse balcony.

Any tee shot needs to be carefully threaded between the two large Oak trees that guard each side of the fairway. Clearing these straight away will give you the ideal opportunity for an opening birdie.

Through the second part of the fairway, banking and long grass will punish any shots that leak away to the right whilst the green slopes from back to front leading to some interesting putts.
HOLE 2 - 376 - SI: 12 - 350 - SI: 12 - 330 - SI: 13 - PAR: 4/4/4
HAIR RAISING TEE SHOT - After leaving the 1st green to the back-left you head through a slight break in a line of trees.

You are about to climb up to a nice secluded raised tee, turn around and then look back through the same tight gap for your only clear way out.
The perfect tee shot would be a slight fade around the trees onto the right side of the fairway.

If you stray to the left you face a difficult second over a bunker that can cause problems, especially as a ditch runs right around the back of the green.
HOLE 3 - 395 - SI: 5 - 379 - SI: 5 - 353 - SI: 5 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE THIRD - Keeping up the professional build up of your round and trees on each side of the tee demand a good straight drive.

Make it as long as you dare as this hole plays slightly uphill and when hitting into the prevailing wind this straightforward par 4 plays longer than its yardage would suggest.

As you meander your way up to the green the banking on both sides of the fairway and behind the putting surface creates a 'feel' of playing in a valley.

HOLE 4 - 192 - SI: 11 - 165 - SI: 11 - 91 - SI: 17 - PAR: 3/3/3
THE THEATRICAL FOURTH - This great but demanding par 3 is again played from an elevated white tee.

Carrying over a gorse filled ravine to a green guarded by testingly placed bunkers on both sides, it is important that you get your club selection just right.
Only the best-struck mid to long irons will find this green and you can take heart that a par is always a very acceptable score.

The banking around the green creates a natural auditorium to play out the hole.
HOLE 5 - 594 - SI: 1 - 550 - SI: 1 - 536 - SI: 1 - PAR: 5/5/5
THE FIFTH - This is the longest hole on the course and has a stroke index of 1.

R
unning slightly down hill and with the aid of a helpful wind, very long hitters can almost reach the green in two.

In normal play
, all the trouble is down the left hand side. The fairway, which is lined by trees to the left and by banking to the right, has a tree in the middle to be negotiated, before taking on the slight dogleg fairway and the tight green.
HOLE 6 - 358 - SI: 7 - 318 - SI: 7 - 315 - SI: 7 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE SIXTH - This delightful hole has many enjoyable tests to navigate like a fairway splitting ditch, a water hazard and culminates with a cracking two-tiered green guarded by no less than 4 bunkers.

Your first decision is whether to lay up or carry the ditch that lays 200 yards from the whites.

With water to the left past the ditch and trees to the right, an accurate tee shot will leave an equally demanding iron to this well bunkered two tier green.
HOLE 7 - 370 - SI: 3 - 366 - SI: 3 - 309 - SI: 3 - PAR: 4/4/4
TO THE SEVENTH - Another hole where water can influence your decisions.

The first ditch requires a carry of some 175 yards to start while the longer hitters will need to avoid the pond on the left of the fairway at around 250 yards.
You will be left with a mid/long iron on the fairway as you head up to a green that is surrounded by trees on each side to guard the entrance.

Take into account a further ditch running across the front of your target and a well placed bunker to the rear that will catch anyone who plays too bold.
HOLE 8 - 167 - SI: 16 - 156 - SI: 16 - 135 - SI: 15 - PAR: 3/3/3
THE EIGHTH - Take some time to select the right club as a bunker between the water and its green tends to create the illusion that the hole is much shorter than it really is.

Ducks regularly spectate from the pond & are happy to pass on their opinion of your shot as they waddle around. As you come round the water to the right remember that the split level green is also worth some thought as it runs off on each side as well as sloping from back to front.

Another hole where par is always a good score.

HOLE 9 - 335 - SI: 14 - 307 - SI: 14 - 247 - SI: 11 - PAR: 4/4/4
A GAUNTLET - At 307 yards off the yellows and with a short dogleg we challenge the big hitters to drive the green.

There is a straight line in to the pin, all you have to do is blank out the big mass of water that stands in your way.

The shortest carry over the pond is down the left hand side of around 180 yards. Be careful not to get caught up in the long grass on the banking to the right and also the green. This is a real birdie chance.
HOLE 10 - 513 - SI: 8 - 503 - SI: 8 - 432 - SI: 2 - PAR: 5/5/5
The 10th - Two ditches are the major problems to get over as they cross this fairway. Carry the first ditch and you can either reach the green in two (longer hitters) or easily carry the second ditch.

If you lay up short of the first ditch you will need to lay up short of the second

This will leave around 130 yards to the green for your next approach shot. A flat green is guarded by a larger bunker to the front and a smaller one to the right. The pro advises you to stay out of the ditches and this is an easy par 5 - Hmmm!!!
HOLE 11 - 437 - SI: 2 - 400 - SI: 2 - 344 - SI: 8 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE LONG ELEVENTH - At 437 yards this slight dogleg left is the longest par 4 on the course.

With a ditch crossing the fairway at around 300 yds this hole presents a real challenge for any player.

Having found the fairway, a wide narrow green with a bunker on the right handside requires a well struck shot to find the putting surface.

This hole certainly warrants its stroke 2 rating.

HOLE 12 - 346 - SI: 6 - 313 - SI: 6 - 263 - SI:10 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE TWELFTH - At 346 yards from the white tee this is not a long hole but has seen the end of many promising medals cards.

With trees to the left and the water to the right, only an accurate tee shot will find the fairway, but this hole is far from over. More water short left of the green does not really come into play, but the water running along the right hand side of the green, a mere 2 yards from the putting surface, very much influences your second shot. But be warned, with out of bounds to the left of the green there is not much room to play safe.
HOLE 13 - 378 - SI: 10 - 373 - SI: 10 - 364 - SI: 6 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE THIRTEENTH - After the rigours of the 11th and 12th holes this is an easy par 4 dog leg left were a good tee shot to the corner leaves a fairly short shot to this flat green guarded left and right by bunkers.

Banking to the right of the fairway shapes the hole while two small ponds to the left that will catch anyone straying off line.

HOLE 14 - 166 - SI: 17 - 140 - SI: 17 - 125 - SI: 16 - PAR: 3/3/3
THE FOURTEENTH - A mid distance par 3 that are well protected by bunkers on three sides.

Playing from a tee set back into the trees only a well, flighted shot will find the green.

Many players choose to play to the left of the green and rely on a chip and putt for their par

HOLE 15 - 311 - SI: 15 - 290 - SI: 15 - 225 - SI: 12 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE FIFTEENTH - This short par 4 has tempted many long hitters to be brave (or foolish) and try to drive the green even though it is surrounded by water on three sides and off set behind a bank to the front. The sensible play here is an iron down the middle to leave yourself a shot of around 100 yards. This should eliminate the dangers of the long grass on the bank to the front of the green and allow you to avoid the perils of the water.

With flowers and shrubs forming a backdrop for the green this is a very pleasing hole to play.
HOLE 16 - 151 - SI: 18 - 120 - SI: 18 - 106 - SI: 18 - PAR: 3/3/3
THE SIXTEENTH - The shortest of the par 3 but with a raised green can cause many problems.

A row of damson trees some 20 yards short of the green tends to forshotten the hole causing many shots to come up short leaving a difficult little chip.

Out of bounds creeps in on the left of this hole and with the camber of the ground near the path any shot left of the green could easily find its way into trouble.

HOLE 17 - 302 - SI: 13 - 291 - SI: 13 - 268 - SI: 14 - PAR: 4/4/4
THE SEVENTEENTH - Another short par 4 with plenty of water to avoid.

Playing from an elevated tee to a flat fairway a long iron would leave a short mid iron to the green. This is another hole that can tempt the longer hitters into going for the green but often their attempts end in disaster.

The sideways on, two tier green means finding the right level is a big advantage as the step is again approaching 3 feet in height.

HOLE 18 - 560 - SI: 4 - 512 - SI: 4 - 455 - SI: 4 - PAR: 5/5/5
THE EIGHTEENTH -A good par 5 to finish. A birdie to win but potential disaster awaits every shot down this 560 yard hole. A ditch across the hole at 236 yards from the white tee lies in wait with a pond to the right and out of bounds to the left catching anything off line. With the tee shot safely negotiated a large oak tree in the centre of the fairway causes the next problem. Do you play to the right and risk the long grass and trees or the left where a large pond and out of bounds await. To play up short would risk being blocked out and leave a shot of around 170 yards to a wide narrow green. Having found the fairway with the second shot the green sloping from right to left and protected by 3 bunkers awaits an excellent approach shot followed by 1 putt for that winning birdie before heading off to the bar to quench that thirst.
